Zimbabwe's Department of Immigration classifies all nationalities into three categories: A, B, and C. Your category is determined by your passport โ not your country of residence. Dual citizens can generally use whichever passport offers the most favourable entry option.
| Category | Who | Entry Method | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| A โ Visa-Free | SADC members + select bilateral treaty countries | No visa required โ complete the online Immigration Declaration Form | Free |
| B โ On Arrival / eVisa | Most Western democracies: USA, UK, EU, AU, CA, NZ, JP, IN, etc. | Visa on arrival at major ports or eVisa applied online in advance (recommended) | USD $30โ$75 depending on nationality |
| C โ eVisa Required | ~118 nationalities not in A or B | Must apply for eVisa at evisa.gov.zw before departure โ no on-arrival option | USD $30โ$90 depending on type |
Citizens of Category A countries enter Zimbabwe without any visa or fee. They are still required to complete the Online Immigration Declaration Form introduced in April 2025, but no payment is required. Entry is granted for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days (30 days for some nations โ check your specific country's terms).

Category B nationals visiting both Zimbabwe and Zambia can apply for the KAZA UniVisa โ a single USD $50 visa granting multiple-entry access between the two countries within a 30-day period. It is available at Victoria Falls Airport, Harare Airport, Livingstone Airport (Zambia), and Kazungula border post.
Category C nationals cannot obtain a Zimbabwe visa at the border under any circumstances. They must apply for and receive an approved eVisa before departing their home country. Attempting to arrive without an approved eVisa will result in denied entry and being placed on the next available return flight.
Category C covers approximately 118 nationalities, primarily from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. Key examples:
Also: Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Belarus, and others. Full Category C list โ
In addition to the standard eVisa documents (passport, photo, accommodation, return ticket), Category C nationals must submit a signed application letter explaining the purpose of their visit. See our full requirements guide for the template.
Holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports from most countries enjoy visa-free entry to Zimbabwe, regardless of whether their ordinary passport nationality falls under Category B or C. They must still complete the Immigration Declaration Form. Confirm your specific passport type's status with Zimbabwe's nearest diplomatic mission before travel.
Indian passport holders fall under Category B and may obtain a visa on arrival or apply via eVisa. Zimbabwe has maintained a long-standing policy of welcoming Indian tourists and business travellers, reflecting strong bilateral trade ties. The fee for Indian nationals is the standard Category B rate: USD $30 single entry.
Zimbabwe has explored simplified entry arrangements for organised Chinese tour groups as part of efforts to boost Chinese tourism. However, as of 2026, individual Chinese nationals still require a Category C eVisa applied and approved before departure. Group tour operators may have separate arrangements โ verify directly with your tour company.
Passengers transiting through Harare International Airport to a third country without leaving the international zone do not require a Zimbabwe visa. If you plan to leave the airport during a transit stop, standard visa rules apply based on your nationality category.
From April 2025, Zimbabwe requires all international arrivals โ including visa-free Category A nationals โ to complete an Online Immigration Declaration Form at before arrival. Those who do not complete it online can fill it in at the immigration counter, but this causes significant delays, especially at busy airports.
Zimbabwe removed reduced visa fees for minors. All travellers regardless of age now pay the full standard fee based on their nationality. More details on eVisa for children โ

The KAZA UniVisa, available to Category B nationals, was expanded to additional border posts in 2024, facilitating easier multi-country travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The USD $50 price point was maintained.
In a notable reciprocal development, the United States imposed a travel bond requirement starting January 21, 2026 for Zimbabwean nationals applying for US B1/B2 visas. This does not affect Zimbabwe's own entry requirements but illustrates the shifting bilateral diplomacy context.
